As a child… How would you picture yourself at 30?
JOB – How did you decide to do this job?
As a child I wanted to become an engineer because I have always considered it as an interesting job. A civil engineer job probably. I studied Zoology because I have always been interested in animals but getting a job in this sphere, here in Yangoon, is very complicated so I started to work for a company specialized in computer learning.When I was 24 I went to Singapore and worked 3 years there. Then I came back and started to work in Logistics, completely by chance tough.
I am proud of my family because my father has 9 sibling, and out of all of them, my sister, my brother and I are the only ones who are really educated.
HOME / PLACE OF LIVING – Where you thought we would be living by now?
I thought I would live in the city I was born, Yangoon. I do not think about any other city because Yangoon is the capital of Myanmar and our best town to make career.

Striking and memorable events…
IN YOUR PERSONAL LIFE – What are the most memorable event of your personal life?
The most memorable event in my life is the day I got the results from our national high school exam that enables us to be selected for universities. I was 19 at the time and I was sure that I would not pass the exam… But I did!! And it came as a huge pleasant surprise!! This event also was important because in Myanmar, the results you get to this exams define which university and subject you can attend.
Another event would also my graduation ceremony from university… I was such a happy moment that I could share with all my family.
IN THE WORLD – What are the main events that stroke the world you are living in?
Myanmar : In 2008, north of Yangoon, there was a terrible cyclone that stroke the country. “Nargis” was a very strong tropical cyclone that caused the worst natural disaster in the history of Myanmar… More than 100 000 people died… It was really awful. My parents house also was a bit damaged but nothing very important…
Over the past year, there was also a lot of political changes in the country but I cannot say that they really affected my life.
World : The earthquake and tsunami that stroke Japan in 2011 also came as a shock to me… Maybe because we experienced something similar a few years earlier…. I do not know much about what happened there but I know that effecs were quite big.
BEST MEMORY – What is your best memory?
My best memory was the day my first girlfriend told me she loved me…. I remember it like it happened yesterday… I was 21 and it was my first serious girlfriend. We met at work and we spent 4 years together.
GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT –
I am proud of my family because my father has 9 sibling, and out of all of them, my sister, my brother and I are the only ones who are really educated. Most of them did not go to school but some still managed to be successful and opened some shops.
My siblings and I were able to go to university thanks to my father’s support who always valued studying so as to achieve a great career.
Looking back / Reviewing expectations
10 YEARS AGO, When I turned 20, I thought that by the age of 30, I would own my own company, maybe a small shop or a restaurant. I have always wanted to have my own business because I like to be independent and don’t like to rely on anyone. By 30 I also thought that I would be married because usually we get married around 23/25 in Myanmar, so I guess I would even have a couple of kids ☺. Even if it may be a bit later in Yangoon, especially if you went to university.
TODAY, well… I could not open my shop yet… But I still have hope! And on the personal ground, I am not married and do not have children yet but I cannot say that I am in rush.

30 years old, a turning point?
WHAT’S NEW? – Did you notice some changes since you are 30 YO?
Being 30 is sign of maturity and is very important in Myanmar because it enables you to get an important position in companies. The experience you got throughout your past really gives you a knowledge that is valuable and allows you to get a better job. I also think that by reaching my 30’s I have become more reasonable.

OLD OR YOUNG? – Do you feel « old » or « still young »?
I feel young!! Laughing! First, I think I look much younger! When people try to guess my age they always say I look like 25! And second, In my head I also feel young… I am only 32 and in Myanmar I think men are only considered old around 40. But I think that a 32 year old women in Myanmar would be considered as old
CHANGES OR REGRETS? What are the things you would like to change?
If I could, I would try to get another degree, probably engineer or an even higher degree. I think that it would have enabled me to get better opportunities, a better job, and a higher salary.

YOUR STORY IN 10 YEARS – What is the story you want to tell within 10 years?
Like I mentioned before, I still hope that I will have my own business. So see myself managing a restaurant, maybe in Yangoon, or in the Kalaw region because I love the climate over there.
By 40 I see myself married…. With 3 children! Actually I would love to open this restaurant with my future wife.
THE WORLD IN 10 YEARS – How do you imagine the world you will be living in within 10 years?
Myanmar : I think that Myanmar will witness many political and economical changes. The country will be much more open and will pursue on its road to democracy. Freedom of speech is still an issue today but censorship is less and less used… I hope this issue will be solved within the next 10 years. Myanmar will also be more developed and get better infrastructures. I see our economy developing in the garment industry and in the export of rice and beans.
World : The world will pursue its growth and will be more… More developed, more modern… More countries will developed and have a better situation.

FEARS – What are you afraid of?
I am afraid to be a poor man.
ACHIEVEMENTS – What are the things you want to achieve?
I am passionate about photography and I would love to go abroad to make a photo report… Spain, France, Africa, USA… So many places that make me dream.
DREAMS – What is your craziest dreams?
I want to try skydiving… for the adrenaline and to get some aerial views. In Myanmar, recreative skydiving does not exist, it is onky military so I would need to do it in another country.
